REVL Training Just Crushed One of Australia’s Toughest Ultra Events. Here’s Why That Matters

In June, a six-person team from REVL Training ran 345 kilometres in under 24 hours as part of Red Bull’s Race the Sun which is easily one of our country’s most demanding endurance events. Starting from Surfers Paradise, the team battled over 6,700 metres of elevation (Mt Everest is 8,850 metres) harsh overnight conditions and rough, unforgiving terrain to claim second place. They crossed the finish line in 22 hours and 51 minutes, with nothing but headlamps, teamwork and sheer grit to get them there.

According to REVL co-founder Josh Mildren, the team faced a lot of challenges and pain. But what kept them moving was the support, the energy and the belief in each other.

“Doubt, fatigue, pain… were all real. But so was the support, the energy and the belief in each other” said REVL’s founder, Josh Mildren.

It wasn’t just an impressive race result. It was a clear and evident public demonstration of what REVL’s training methodology can deliver.

What is REVL?

REVL isn’t just another group workout, it’s a global movement reshaping the fitness landscape through a performance-led model that blends the personalisation of one-on-one training with the power of community.

Founded in 2020 by Ben Woolford (CEO) and Josh Mildren (COO), REVL has scaled rapidly from four boutique studios to over 35 locations across Australia, Asia and the Middle East, with more than 6,500 active members. Their shared background in elite sport and fitness led them to create a model that bridges the gap between personal training and group fitness, offering a high-performance environment accessible to all.

REVL’s purpose-built studios provide a premium space to train with intention. Each program is grounded in sports science, allowing each member to thrive and evolve, from beginners to seasoned athletes, all with a shared goal to train with structure, accountability and measurable results.

More than just a place to work out, REVL is driven by a sense of community. Its culture is rooted in the mental and emotional benefits of exercise, and the brand’s strong sense of purpose continues to resonate with members around the world.

“REVL’s group training approach brings a sense of community and camaraderie that we enjoyed from team sports, said Josh Mildren, co-founder of REVL Training.

With over 20 years of combined industry experience, Josh and Ben are leading the next generation of fitness with ambitious plans for continued international expansion. As REVL grows, so too does its mission: to help everyday athletes train harder, smarter and together.

That mission is anchored in a three-tier training model built around 13-week programming blocks. MOVE focuses on foundational strength. PERFORM blends advanced lifts and hybrid training. SWEAT delivers high-intensity conditioning without compromising movement quality. Each class is coached, structured and deliberately programmed for results, not randomness.

This performance-first approach has struck a chord with those tired of gimmicks and chaos. REVL studios attract members who want to train with purpose and progress, guided by coaches who know their stuff and care enough to keep them honest.

And it’s working. From local members logging their first pull-up to ultra-endurance teams finishing second in one of the country’s most brutal races, REVL is proving that science-backed programming, when paired with the right culture, can deliver extraordinary outcomes.

What happened at Race the Sun wasn’t a fluke. It was REVL doing what it was designed to do: build better humans, one session at a time.
